Laterosuperior to the sternum, 1 cun below Yunmen (LU 2), at the level of the 1st intercostal space, 6 cun lateral to the anterior midline.
  • Deadman
On the lateral aspect of the chest, in the first intercostal space, 6 cun lateral to the midline, 1 cun inferior to Yunmen LU-2.
How To Find It
1. Ask the patient to extend their hand forwards whilst you apply resistance to their hand, in order to emphasize the delto-pectoral triangle. First located Yunmen LU-2 in the centre of the triangle, then locate Zhongfu LU-1 in the intercostal space

The Intermediate supraclavicular nerve, the branches of the anterior thoracic nerve and lateral cutaneous branch of the first intercostal nerve

Superolaterally, axillary artery and vein, thoraco-acromial artery and vein
Cautions
Cautions:
To avoid injuring the lung, never puncture deeply towards the medial aspect. (CAM) Deep perpendicular or oblique insertion carries a substantial risk of causing pneumothorax (Deadman).

Puncture obliquely 0.5-0.8 inch towards the lateral aspect of the chest.
  • Deadman
Transverse-oblique insertion 0.5 to 1 cun medially along the intercostal space.
