Profile:

Over the course of more than 27 years, I have been studying and utilizing numerous methods to work with patients, including acupressure, massage, western herbs, flower essences, shamanism, homeopathy, diet and nutrition. I have also been employing acupuncture and Chinese herbs since 1993 and am specialist in Chinese herbal medicine.

In 1989, I obtained my Bachelors of Science degree from UC Irvine in pre-med biology and then went on to obtain his Masters degree in 1992 in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) from American College of TCM (ACTCM) and my California state acupuncture license in 1993. I also spent a year studying Plant Spirit Medicine with Eliot Cowan. I have taught and lectured about wholistic medicine and Chinese medicine at San Francisco State University, California Healing Arts College, Yo San University of TCM and the Whole Life Expo. I was also a staff acupuncturist, clinic supervisor and teacher at ACTCM for 4 years and a staff acupuncturist at Tarzana Medical Center for 3 years.

Additionally, I created and developed the Chinese herb garden for 5 and a half years at ACTCM and spent one and a half years as the curator of the Chinese herb garden at the Nanjing Institute of Botany in China.

In 2005 I led 2 independent travel tours throughout different regions in China to teach more about the plants and dried herbs used in Chinese medicine. The tour features live herb plants in cultivation in herb gardens and farms, hikes in the wild mountains, traditional medicinal foods, and some sight-seeing of famous locations. Future tours are currently being planned. The tour is currently documented and advertised on this website: http://www.belila.com/chinatour/

I am currently an instructor and Clinical Dean at Emperor's College of Traditional Oriental Medicine in Santa Monica and maintain a private practice in the San Fernando Valley.
